CEDENNA organizes numerous outreach activities, including conferences, talks, competitions, schools, seminars and exhibitions, to present its work to the general community, generating greater interest in science among the youth of our country.
Under the heading of “New opportunities for innovation”, recognized international researchers and authorities came together in Santiago to analyze the potential of nanotechnology and it different applications that are today revolutionizing industry.
On Thursday, November 13 the Copec-UC Foundation held an international seminar on Nanotechnology: New opportunities for innovation, with the participation of international experts and eleven researchers from CEDENNA, who made presentations and showed posters on technological projects being undertaken at the Center.
The objective of the initiative was to disseminate information about advances in nanotechnology, an area of science dedicated to the manipulation of materials at the atomic and molecular levels. The seminar included the participation of several national and international specialists, among them Javier García, co-founder of Rive Technology (a spin-off of MIT) and director of the nanotechnology laboratory of the University of Alicante; Omaid Farokhazad, director of the Laboratory of Nanomedicine and Biomaterials at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School; José Cubillo, Director of Advanced Materials at Acciona Infraestructuras and coordinator of the project New Advanced Insulation Phase Change Materials and José Mejía-López,, CEDENNA researcher, who discussed the main developments in nanotechnology research.
