Researcher receives funding to purchase new small angle x-ray equipment

January 12, 2017

The researcher Juan Escrig from the Magnetic Nanostructure Line has received funding from the FONDEQUIP Program for the purchase of a SAXS-WAXS- GISAXS system at an approximate cost of $US 188.600.060. The SAXS is a small angle x-ray device for advanced materials research that can be used by a large number of researchers at the Universidad de Santiago thanks to the interaction among three faculties of the university. “With the SAXS system we expect to have a global statistically relevant perspective of nanostructural properties in 3-D”, stated Dr. Escrig, adding that it is a non-destructive characterization method and at present is the only one in the country.
