Thesis optimizes the method of particle synthesis using microwaves

August 17, 2018

The thesis with which Valery Nahuelhuen obtained a degree in chemistry from the University of Santiago de Chile, was aimed at optimizing synthetic routes to obtain imido-substituted polyoxomolybdates using microwave radiation instead of a direct heat source. “This means making a cleaner chemistry, with lower energy costs, shorter reaction times and increasing the performance of the products. The chemical reactions made with microwave radiation are much faster than those made by heating in the laboratory, “explained Dr. Diego Venegas Yazigi, who along with Dr. Kerry Wrighton Araneda, of the research group in Chemistry of Na-noostructures of the Cedenna, directed the work that the new professional presented on June 7 in his title exam.
