Dr. Eva Vallejos Vallejos will be the speaker at the next session of the CEDENNA Seminar Series, to be held on Thursday, October 29, at 4:00 p.m., in the Auditorium of the REMS Building at the Universidad de Santiago de Chile.
In aquaculture health, extremely small structures can produce big effects. Some cause diseases and modulate the immune response, while others can be designed to stimulate organisms’ defenses or improve the delivery of treatments.
During the talk, the researcher will take the audience on a journey from viruses and the immune response to the development of nanostructures with preventive and therapeutic potential for aquaculture.
About the speaker
Eva Vallejos Vallejos is a biochemist with a Master’s in Aquaculture and a PhD in Immunology. She is an academic researcher at the Universidad de Las Américas, director of the Research Nucleus in Production and Health of Aquatic Species (NIP-SEA), and director of the UDP Women Researchers Network.
Her work focuses on the study of infectious diseases, the immune response and the development of biotechnological strategies to improve aquaculture health.
She has taken part in research on viruses relevant to salmon farming, immunostimulants, molecular biomarkers and various biotechnological strategies, including the development of nanostructured cytokines and nanosystems for the targeted delivery of antimicrobials.
She currently takes part in and promotes collaborative research initiatives focused on the health and sustainable production of aquatic species.
Registration
The activity is open to the CEDENNA community as well as to students, researchers, professionals and the general public interested in learning about the applications of nanotechnology in aquaculture health.
At the end of the talk, there will be time to chat with the speaker over coffee and cookies.
Participation is free, with prior registration.
