Professor Diego Venegas Yazigi, PhD in Chemistry and principal investigator of CEDENNA’s Molecular Magnetism Laboratory, presented this team’s advances on Tuesday at the ChemForum held in Lisbon, after also taking part in the XIII International Vanadium Symposium in the Portuguese capital.
Both events periodically bring together specialists from around the world to offer a series of short, open and accessible scientific lectures covering different topics in chemistry and related sciences. They are organized by the Structural Chemistry Center of the University of Lisbon and, in the case of the Vanadium symposium, more than sixty researchers from around the world share their studies and experience on this unique element, whose applications range from medicine to catalysis and materials.
These international meetings are presented by currently active researchers invited from renowned scientific centers, and are aimed at PhD students as well as researchers and professors in the field from many countries. “The central idea is to collaborate, establish conversations and enriching exchanges between the different participating research groups, as well as to encourage young people to do more science. Certain stereotypes about scientific competitiveness are broken at meetings like this, where several days, a coffee, a poster session and a presentation are shared, generating an interaction that benefits all participants equally,” said Dr. Venegas Yazigi.
