“Nanotechnology made in Chile” is the title of the talk given by the executive director of the Center for the Development of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, Dr. Juan Escrig Murúa, to students and academics at Universidad de Tarapacá (Arica), during his visit to the university for the opening of the exhibition “Images of the Nanoworld” produced by our research center, which the northern university will host until October 15.

Before an audience eager to learn more about nanoscience and nanotechnology, Dr. Escrig highlighted the interdisciplinary nature of these scientific fields, which span physics, chemistry, materials science, microelectronics, biochemistry and biotechnology, among others. He stressed how nanoscale materials acquire unique properties and how nanotechnology makes it possible to design tailor-made materials and products, such as advanced electronic components, smart sensors, and innovative medicines and medical treatments.

CEDENNA’s director, also dean of the USACH Faculty of Science, emphasized that nanotechnology is revolutionizing research and technological development, offering a deeper understanding of matter and its interactions and providing creative solutions to problems in areas such as health, energy, the environment and technology.

In his closing message, Dr. Escrig stated that “from Latin America, we have the opportunity to contribute to a future full of possibilities. It is up to us to seize the opportunities that arise.”
