The Packaging Technology Research Group, led by Drs. María José Galotto and Abel Guarda, won the SIA-ANID (Fondef) technological research competition with its project: Application of a functional barrier for the production of post-consumer rPET packaging for food. The LABEN project will work with recycled PET plastic to bring to market an even more effective solution to diversify the use of post-consumer recycled PET, using it to manufacture new packaging for direct food contact and thus minimize the environmental impact of plastic waste through its effective recovery.
