Wednesdays at the Academy

New cancer treatments without side effects, food that doesn’t spoil in our refrigerator, better ways to produce and store renewable energy, and much more are what nanotechnology has brought to the 21st century.

To learn about this fascinating topic, as part of the talk series “Wednesdays at the Academy,” the Chilean Academy of Sciences will hold the webinar “Science and Technology at the Nanoscale,” given by Dr. Dora Altbir, National Prize for Exact Sciences winner, full member, and director of the Center for the Development of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, Cedenna.

“In this talk we will explain the origin of the new properties of materials at the nanoscale, and how nanoscience is impacting multiple areas of knowledge and technology, becoming the basis of the so-called Fourth Industrial Revolution. We will also show applications developed in our country, which has not fallen behind in this field,” the academic noted.

The event, free and open to the public, will take place next Wednesday, November 9 at 6:00 PM, via Zoom, and will be streamed on Facebook Live @academiachilenadeciencias.
