Seminar “New method for developing vaccines against Coronavirus”

Hybrid format
Thursday, June 30, 4:00 PM, CEDENNA Auditorium
We look forward to seeing you, along with coffee, cookies, and an interesting talk

Few in-person spots remain for our upcoming seminar, in which Dr. Felipe Torres, a CEDENNA researcher, will tell us about the mathematical model for predicting essential proteins in the development of vaccines against viruses such as SARS-CoV-2, H1N1, and HIV.

“We showed that the removal of certain non-structural proteins produces a significant change in the structure of the Coronavirus infection. In turn, this implies that removing a set of protein interactions reduces the effects of SARS-CoV-2, improving the human immune response. This method is a very useful tool for studying new variants of the Coronavirus and infections caused by other viruses,” highlights Dr. Torres, author of this work together with fellow CEDENNA researcher Dr. Miguel Kiwi (National Prize for Exact Sciences) and Ivan K. Schuller, a member of our center’s International Advisory Committee.

The research has just been published in the prestigious journal Scientific Reports.
