What happens when ions impact matter? How do materials behave when subjected to radiation at different energy scales? These questions will be addressed in a new session of the CEDENNA Seminar Series, a monthly event that seeks to bring science topics closer to the academic community, students and the public interested in nanoscience, nanotechnology and related areas.
The talk, titled “Atomistic simulations of ion irradiation, from eV to GeV”, will be given in Spanish by Dr. Eduardo Bringa, researcher at CONICET and the Universidad de Mendoza, Argentina.
During the presentation, the specialist will discuss the use of atomistic simulations to study ion irradiation processes in materials, from energies on the order of electronvolts to gigaelectronvolts. These approaches make it possible to analyze phenomena that occur at the atomic scale and are of interest to areas such as materials physics, nanotechnology, nuclear applications, space technologies, semiconductors and materials modification.
The activity will take place on Wednesday, July 29, at 4:00 p.m., in the Auditorium of the USACH Research Centers Building, located at Av. Alameda Libertador Bernardo O’Higgins 3363, Estación Central.
The event is organized by the Center for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, CEDENNA, and is aimed at researchers, academics, students and people interested in learning more about computer simulation, materials under extreme conditions and atomic-scale science.
Participation is free, with prior registration.
