Alexia Vázquez, Regional Ministerial Secretary of Science, Technology, Knowledge and Innovation for the Arica-Parinacota and Tarapacá regions, visited the facilities of the Center for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology CEDENNA to learn in depth about the research and developments the center promotes in the field of nanotechnology.

During her tour, the Regional Secretary learned about the advances made in the microscopy, plant biotechnology, nanobiomedicine, nanostructure chemistry and nanosafety laboratories.

The visit addressed various applications of nanoparticles in key areas such as medicine, agronomy, mining and safety, especially highlighting their potential to respond to specific challenges in the northern regions of our country.

“It is key to learn about this type of research, because of its potential to respond to the challenges of our regions, the country and the world,” said the Regional Secretary, valuing the possibility of establishing links that drive solutions with territorial relevance and frontier science.

At the CEDENNA Center, we want to highlight these meetings, as they strengthen the link between science and the regions and make it possible to plan collaborations that bring knowledge closer to the concrete needs of the territories. Nanoscience and nanotechnology are a key tool for developing innovative and sustainable solutions, and in this regard, the interest of regional authorities such as the Regional Secretary opens many paths towards a more connected future.
