From May 25 to 30, 2025, a team of researchers and a student from CEDENNA took an active part in the International Workshop on Spintronics (Spin Galápagos 2025), held at the Universidad San Francisco de Quito, on its beautiful San Cristóbal Campus in the Galápagos Islands, Ecuador.

During the event, Dr. Pedro Landeros gave an outstanding invited talk titled “The toroidal moments in confined nanomagnets and its impact on magnonics”, in which he discussed in depth the role of toroidal moments in confined nanomagnets and their relevance in the field of magnonics.

Likewise, Dr.. Juan Escrig presented his talk “Engineering magnetic nanostructures for spintronics applications”, focused on the design of magnetic nanostructures for spintronics applications.

For his part, the director of CEDENNA, Dr. Juliano Denardin took part with the poster “Skyrmion stabilization and switching mechanisms in nanodisks”, while student Nicolás Tasso also made an outstanding contribution with the presentation of his poster “Skyrmions in synthetic antiferromagnetic multilayers”.

What is Spintronics?
Spintronics, also called spin electronics, is a branch of science that studies the use of the electron’s spin, in addition to its charge, in electronic devices. It focuses on how manipulating spin can produce changes in conductance and how this could lead to new technologies, especially in information storage and processing.

CEDENNA’s participation in this important international meeting reinforces its commitment to frontier research and global scientific exchange in the field of spintronics.
