The Center for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (CEDENNA) announces the opening of registration for the PRONANO 2024 program, aimed at secondary school teachers in scientific areas. The session will be held on Thursday, March 14, 2024, from 8:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., at the center’s building, located at Av. Libertador Bernardo O’Higgins 3363, Estación Central (Metropolitan Region).

ProNano, in its 9th edition, is a nanoscience and nanotechnology training program for secondary school teachers, aimed at supporting them by providing knowledge and tools to teach their students effectively, since this content was incorporated into the Science Programs for 11th and 12th grade and requires greater depth.

“This workshop allows us to fulfill our purpose as a scientific center, which is to do science and technology, training scientists in these areas, contributing to the training of teachers and students and carrying out outreach to contribute to the country’s development. For this, it is essential that new generations understand that these advances affect different areas such as medicine, food, climate change and mining,” said National Prize for Exact Sciences winner Dora Altbir, executive director of the CEDENNA Foundation, who will be actively participating in the session.

The program will include theoretical and practical workshops led by the center’s scientists. Teachers will be able to experiment and even create their own nanoparticles during their tour (in the afternoon) of the different laboratories. They will also be given ideas, tips, experiences and exercises so they can apply the knowledge received in their classrooms.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

The event is aimed at 11th and 12th grade teachers who teach subjects such as biology, physics and chemistry. Participation in the program is free of charge, but teachers from the regions must cover their travel and accommodation expenses.

  • Those interested can register via the link at the end of this article or by email at [email protected]
  •
  • PLACES ARE LIMITED, so if you want to secure yours, it is important to register as soon as possible.

PRONANO 2024 is a CEDENNA initiative, as part of its mission to promote the application and knowledge of nanoscience and nanotechnology in education. The program seeks to offer teachers relevant tools for teaching these disciplines in the school context.
