Dr. García

Dr. Juan Pablo García-Huidobro, researcher at CEDENNA, received an outstanding recognition of a life dedicated to scientific research, training new generations and developing knowledge in Chile after being nominated for the 2026 National Prize for Natural Sciences.

The nomination, submitted by the Universidad de Santiago de Chile, recognizes his extraordinary career in experimental pharmacology and his pioneering role in introducing molecular pharmacology in the country, promoting a new way of understanding the cellular and molecular mechanisms that explain how drugs act.

With a long academic and scientific career, Dr. García-Huidobro has contributed significantly to the advancement of Chilean pharmacology and to the training of advanced human capital, guiding numerous generations of researchers and health professionals.

His work has helped strengthen the transition from a pharmacology focused on describing the effects of drugs to a science based on the study of the molecular and cellular processes involved in how they work. This approach has opened new possibilities for developing more precise therapeutic strategies and for understanding various diseases.

Throughout his career, the researcher at the CEDENNA Nanosafety Laboratory has maintained a constant pursuit of knowledge, developing innovative research that connects cell biology, chemical communication and the potential development of new molecules with health applications.
