As part of the international fair EXPOMIN 2025, the director of the CEDENNA Center Program, Dr. Juliano Casagrande, together with project manager Dr. Omar Daud, held a meeting with Sébastien Garbarino, Director of Innovation and Infrastructure at PRIMA Québec, at the stand of MSTA Canada, located in the Canada pavilion.

During the meeting, the relationship formally established in 2024 through the signing of a Declaration of Intent between CEDENNA and PRIMA Québec, an organization that promotes the advanced materials innovation ecosystem in the Canadian province, was deepened. The document lays the foundations for developing joint research and development (R&D) projects in strategic areas such as advanced materials, clean technologies and energy, the circular economy, and critical and strategic minerals.

Garbarino praised CEDENNA’s high scientific and technological level, noting that the Center is one of the most advanced in Chile in the field of advanced materials. In this context, CEDENNA raised the possibility of exploring the feasibility of taking a mining sensor project currently under development to Canada.

At the same time, PRIMA Québec reported that it will soon open an international competition to fund collaborative R&D projects, which must be submitted in partnership between university research centers and private companies, with financial support from the Government of Québec.

In addition to exploring this line of work in mining, the conversation made it possible to identify other areas of common interest such as nanoparticle characterization and the development of quantum technologies, two areas in which CEDENNA has consolidated capabilities and which could open new opportunities for international collaboration in the short term.

CEDENNA thus reaffirms its commitment to developing frontier science, internationalizing its capabilities and creating strategic alliances that enhance the impact of applied scientific research in key productive sectors for Chile and the world.
