The Center for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (CEDENNA) took part in the 10th National Meeting on Physics Didactics, held at the Universidad Metropolitana de Ciencias de la Educación (UMCE), an event that brought together teachers, academics and researchers committed to the teaching, outreach and social projection of science.

Representing CEDENNA, researcher Roberto Lavín, director of PAR Explora Sur Poniente and director of the Institute of Basic Sciences at Universidad Diego Portales, took part in the panel discussion “Translating science: a bridge between research, education and outreach”, focused on reflecting on how to more effectively connect scientific knowledge with formal education and the public.

During his contribution, Dr. Lavín stressed that research, outreach and teaching cannot be understood as separate dimensions, but as deeply interconnected processes. From his experience, he noted that one of the main current challenges is to strengthen these links and create languages, formats and experiences that allow scientific knowledge to flow from laboratories to classrooms and society, and vice versa.

In this context, he highlighted CEDENNA’s sustained work in training and outreach, through initiatives such as the Nanoscience and Nanotechnology course for health professionals, the Nanosafety course, talks for schools and the traveling exhibition “Images of the Nanoworld”, among other actions aimed at bringing science closer to different audiences.

He also stressed the Center’s commitment to early and ongoing engagement with the education system. Over the past year, CEDENNA has welcomed more than 20 educational institutions, including schools and universities, promoting interest in science and nanotechnology and fostering scientific vocations from an early age.

CEDENNA’s participation in this national meeting reaffirms its role as an active player in linking scientific research, education and outreach, contributing to a more integrated, accessible scientific culture aligned with the country’s challenges.
