Fulfilling its goal of reaching every school in the Los Lagos region, the exhibition “Images of the Nano World” has now brought nanoscience and nanotechnology to the Science Fair at Cochamó School.

This week, with great success, the exhibition is showcasing photographs of nanometer-sized molecules and materials — so tiny they are invisible to the naked eye — captured through electron microscopy and artistically colored by CEDENNA researchers to support science outreach to the public.

Teachers and students were amazed by the origin of the different pictorial representations, while elementary school students were invited to draw their own depictions of what they imagine as “nano elements” existing in their environment.

The exhibition of these large-format panels has been touring various rural localities in southern Chile since September, visiting every institution willing to host it.

The exhibition is accompanied by Dr. Mauricio Escudey, senior researcher at the Center for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, CEDENNA, hosted at UDP but bringing together 17 universities from across the country.
