The Center for the Development of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, CEDENNA, is proud to announce the winners of the 2023 edition of the “CEDENNA Images Contest”, which aims to collect images related to nanoscience and nanotechnology, captured through electron microscopy and artistically worked by students, technology developers and researchers of the center.

We thank everyone who accepted the invitation to compete this year and present their creations, which will inspire and bring to life the center’s 2024 calendar, as well as events, works and other outreach pieces, as has been the case with the successful exhibition “Images of the Nanoworld”, currently touring the country.

All images received will be added to CEDENNA’s historical record and may be used in future outreach materials, always giving due credit to their authors.

Through this contest, the center seeks to give visibility to scientific work and bring it closer to the general public in a playful way that creates an attractive blend of science and art. In this way, the contest helps enrich the national scientific culture and allows the community to appreciate and understand the importance of nanoscience and nanotechnology in our daily lives.

According to the voting results, we are pleased to announce the winners of “CEDENNA Images 2023”:

First Place:

  • Fabián Araneda with “Nano Honeycomb”

Second Place:

  • Tannia Alejandra Silva Pávez and Paulina Andrea Cheuquepan Ochoa with “PLA Cathedrals”
