An initiative of Center for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (CEDENNA) that seeks to bring frontier research closer to the public through images that reveal the beauty of the nanoworld.
The contest, already established as a space for science outreach in Chile, awarded photographs obtained using microscopy techniques and advanced simulations, where scientific rigor meets visual aesthetics. First place went to Rock Art, by Pedro Chana Cuevas and Patricia Díaz Saldívar; second place to Violet, by Victoria Flores del Pino and Patricia Díaz Saldívar; and third place to Heading to the Neural Horizon, by Fabián Araneda Martínez.
The selected works will be part of the 2026 Wall Calendar, the traveling exhibition Images of the Nanoworld and the free digital book of the same name, reinforcing CEDENNA’s commitment to science outreach, education and engagement with society.
