Diario El Centro de Talca highlighted ProNano Maule 2026, the first regional edition of this initiative promoted by CEDENNA to bring nanoscience and nanotechnology closer to secondary school teachers.
The event was organized by CEDENNA together with the Universidad de Talca and the Universidad Católica del Maule and brought together researchers, academic authorities and teachers from different schools in the region. The activity combined talks on applications of nanotechnology with practical workshops aimed at providing tools that can later be used in the classroom.
The article paid special attention to the possibilities offered by nanomedicine to develop more precise cancer treatments. The topic was addressed by CEDENNA director and 2019 National Prize for Exact Sciences winner Dr. Dora Altbir, and by CEDENNA researcher and dean of the Faculty of Medicine of the Universidad de Talca, Dr. Cristian Vilos.
CEDENNA researcher and 2007 National Prize for Exact Sciences winner Dr. Miguel Kiwi also took part in the event, sharing concepts and experiences related to the development of nanoscience with attendees.
Diario El Centro also highlighted the educational component of ProNano and the “Nanomedicine in the classroom” workshop. In this activity, teachers learned about experimental methodologies and received a teaching kit to replicate nanotechnology-related experiences in their schools.
Participating teachers valued the opportunity to update their knowledge, interact directly with researchers and access resources that allow them to bring this scientific content closer to their students.
ProNano in Maule marked the beginning of a new stage for the program, which, after ten editions held in Santiago, began its expansion to different regions of the country.
