El Mercurio highlights the start of the “Images of the Nanoworld” tour in rural schools in Cochamó

The Center for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (CEDENNA) was featured in the pages of the newspaper El Mercurio following the launch of the traveling exhibition “Images of the Nanoworld” in the Los Lagos Region.

The initiative, carried out under the program “Art in the science of the extremely small,” seeks to bring scientific knowledge to rural communities in southern Chile. The exhibition officially began at the San Antonio de Pocoihuén Alto Rural Elementary School, in Cochamó.

The exhibition consists of 12 images captured through electron microscopy by researchers from the center, selected over a decade in the annual contest organized by CEDENNA. Each visual piece includes details about the material observed and the microscopy technique used to capture it.

“We want to show that the nanoworld is full of surprising shapes, structures, and phenomena, and that we can understand them without losing our sense of wonder,” said Mauricio Escudey, a CEDENNA researcher, in statements to the media outlet.
