ANID’s Deputy Directorate of Centers and Associative Research made an intense and interesting visit to CEDENNA through its representatives Helen Ipinza, Head of the Department of Development and Innovation Initiatives; Mariela Puebla, project coordinator; and Guido González, Head of the Centers Unit. This is the first in-person follow-up visit by the new authorities, since due to the pandemic it had only been carried out virtually in November 2021.

The tour began at the Prototyping Workshop, where they learned about some of the developments, including the pathogen sensor, presented in detail by Dr. Juan Luis Palma. Then, accompanied by CEDENNA’s director, Dr. Dora Altbir, they went to the laboratories on the fifth floor and basement of the Research Building, where they were welcomed by the researchers in charge of each laboratory, who explained their progress in research and technology transfer in various areas (environment, sensing systems for mining, water remediation systems, plant extracts for cosmetic and clinical use, batteries, among others).

The day continued with a presentation of the results achieved by our center, followed by Helen Ipinza’s remarks on ANID, its objectives and the expected focus areas of basal centers. This was followed by an interesting dialogue with the heads of CEDENNA’s research lines, an exchange that concluded the visit.
