Nanotechnology applied to construction and energy

We highlight the article published by Cooperativa Ciencia about the seventh episode of “Nanos a la Obra” in which researchers from CEDENNA, Roberto Lavín y Daniela Alburquenque, discuss the impact of nanotechnological concrete and the development of advanced materials for lithium-ion batteries.

Dr. Lavín leads a project that seeks to revolutionize the construction industry through the development of nanotechnological concrete. This innovative material, which incorporates nanoadditives and plastic waste, offers a unique combination of high mechanical strength and excellent energy performance.

“Traditional construction materials face a dilemma: high strength or good thermal insulation. Our nanotechnological concrete solves this problem, offering both characteristics in a single material,” explains the director of the Institute of Basic Sciences at Universidad Diego Portales.
