Quantum computing, one of the most promising areas of science and technology, will be the focus of a new edition of Qu Santiago V, the Quantum Computing School to be held on April 14, 15 and 16 at the Faculty of Engineering and Sciences of Universidad Diego Portales (UDP).
The initiative seeks to bring students, researchers and professionals closer to the advances in this discipline, which could transform industries as diverse as medicine, logistics, artificial intelligence and the development of new materials.
The event will feature specialists in the field and the support of academic institutions such as Universidad de Santiago de Chile and the Center for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (CEDENNA).
One of the most innovative elements of the program will be the Hackathon “Quantum for Chile”, an intensive session in which participants will work in interdisciplinary teams to tackle challenges related to the use of quantum technologies. During this activity they will have specialized technical mentoring, allowing them to experiment with quantum computing tools and applications in a collaborative environment.
The program will include content on the fundamentals of this discipline, such as qubits, operators and quantum noise, as well as a review of algorithms and industrial applications such as QAOA, VQE y QML, currently considered key to developing solutions based on quantum computing.
For Nancy Barraza, academic at the UDP Faculty of Engineering and Sciences and member of the coordinating group of researchers of CEDENNA, says that initiatives of this kind are essential for training human capital in emerging scientific areas.
“Quantum computing is opening up a new technological paradigm. What matters is that students and young researchers can approach these concepts early and understand how they can be applied to real challenges, from materials design to complex optimization problems”, said the researcher.
The school seeks precisely to strengthen this knowledge ecosystem, connecting students from different disciplines with specialists working at the frontier of research.
Those interested in participating can register through the form available via the QR code on the event announcement available on the website of the UDP Faculty of Engineering and Sciences and on CEDENNA’s social media.
