Presenting recent progress in key areas such as Quantum Computing, Quantum Machine Learning and Quantum Machines, as well as disseminating and delving into emerging lines of research related to these technologies, is one of the objectives of the second edition of QuSantiago, to be held over three days at the USACH Faculty of Science in collaboration with the Center for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, CEDENNA. Undoubtedly an event of special interest amid the remarkable growth currently being experienced by the development of Quantum Technologies worldwide.
The event, scheduled for January 2 to 4, 2024, will feature leading scientists from companies at the forefront of quantum technologies. These include Kipu Quantum, a European pioneer in quantum software; IBM, a leading US company in quantum software and hardware; and TuringQ, one of the main Chinese companies in this field. Speakers will include Dr. Antonio Mezzacapo (IBM), Dr. Enrique Solano (Kipu Quantum) and Prof. Hao Tang (TuringQ), world-renowned for her contributions to quantum applications. The event will also offer 9 tutorial talks with experts from Chile and abroad, such as Prof. Gabriel Landi (University of Rochester), Prof. Gabriele De Chiara (Queen’s University Belfast) and Dr. Nathan Myers (Virginia Tech).
One of the members of the event’s organizing committee, Dr. Francisco Albarrán, CEDENNA researcher and academic at the Department of Physics of the USACH Faculty of Science, says they took on “the challenge of approaching quantum technologies from an applied perspective, so that students who want to enter this field have a much clearer picture from the standpoint of academia and industry. That is why, in this edition, we tried to include the perspective of world-class experts.”
He stresses that “QuSantiago has limited places, and it is a great opportunity for attendees to build important collaborative ties and be part of these important advances in Quantum Technologies, so I invite everyone to register and take part in this great activity in its second edition.”
On Friday, January 5, the Workshop will take place, with talks by researchers from different universities presenting their advances in quantum physics. This will be followed by the closing of the second edition of QuSantiago, an event that aims to become a key milestone in promoting and understanding quantum technologies.
