From October 13 to November 11, the Second Workshop on Principles of Nanoscience Education for High School will be held by CEDENNA and the USACH Department of Physics.
Teachers interested in taking part must register by email at [email protected] or by scanning the QR code on the poster.
This workshop has been designed to provide a learning and development space for high school science teachers seeking to incorporate nanoscience and nanotechnology into their science and/or mathematics classes and even into interdisciplinary projects. In line with the current context, a
platform with online resources is available to complete the instruction asynchronously.
AIMED AT:
Practicing or trainee science and mathematics teachers (from 7th and 8th grade to high school) who are interested in learning about Nanoscience and Nanotechnology and want to incorporate this knowledge into their classes, benefiting their students’ learning.
GENERAL OBJECTIVE
To establish the usefulness of nanoscience and nanotechnology education to link the different
high school science subjects and promote positive changes in their teaching.
ASYNCHRONOUS ONLINE FORMAT
The workshop will be delivered through an online platform, where teachers will find material on the main concepts of nanoscience as well as quizzes to assess their performance.
COURSE DURATION
The course has an estimated total duration of 4 hours per week, which teachers can distribute as they see fit thanks to the asynchronous online format.
CONCEPTS, PROPERTIES AND QUALITIES COVERED IN THIS WORKSHOP:
a) Size and scale
b) Size-dependent properties
c) Characterization methods
d) Functionalization
e) Classification of nanomaterials
f) Innovations and applications of nanotechnology
