  • The agreement seeks to strengthen teacher training and bring nanotechnology into secondary school classrooms.

The Center for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology Foundation (CEDENNA) and the Chilean Society for Physics Teaching (SOCHEF) signed a memorandum of understanding that marks the beginning of a strategic collaboration to promote the teaching of nanoscience and nanotechnology in the Chilean school system.

This agreement formalizes joint work already under way, which will include various activities, including participation in scientific refresher workshops for physics teachers, in response to the new curricular challenges that incorporate nanoscience content in secondary education.

The document was signed by Dr. Dora Altbir, on behalf of CEDENNA, Dr. Juliano Casagrande, on behalf of the CEDENNA Center Program, and teacher Pamela Mondaca, president of SOCHEF. Nicolás Ferrada, a member of the SOCHEF board, also took part in the ceremony.

The alliance includes concrete actions in four main areas:

  • Teacher training: talks, courses and workshops for physics and science teachers.
  • Science outreach: guided laboratory visits, school fairs, traveling exhibitions and science olympiads.
  • Educational resources: joint development of teaching materials on nanoscience and nanotechnology.
  • Shared visibility: joint promotion of the activities carried out under the agreement.

This alliance reflects CEDENNA’s commitment to transferring knowledge to society and strengthening science teaching in Chile, through active collaboration with teachers.

The memorandum does not establish financial obligations, but allows voluntary collaboration on specific projects that contribute to these common goals.
