Back to CEDENNA in the Media

Today we highlight the third episode of “Nanos a la Obra” published by Cooperativa Ciencia!

In the third episode of “Nanos a la Obra”, the emerging field of Nanomedicine was explored in depth with two leading CEDENNA researchers. Dr. Cristián Vilos, director of the Nanomedicine Center at the Universidad de Talca, and Dr. Patricia Díaz, head of CEDENNA’s nanobiomedicine laboratory, gave us a close look at how nanotechnology is transforming modern medicine.

“Nanomedicine is defined as an emerging field that combines medicine, biology and nanotechnology to develop advanced diagnostic and treatment strategies,” explains Dr. Vilos. This discipline promises to revolutionize the way we approach diseases, offering innovative and effective solutions.

For her part, Dr. Díaz points out that “as of 2023, it was estimated that there were at least 90 nanodrugs, that is, medicines that use nanoparticle systems to treat various diseases, with cancer being one of the main targets. Nanomedicine is much closer to our everyday lives than we think.”

This episode is an unmissable opportunity to learn more about how nanomedicine is marking a turning point in global health.
