On Wednesday, November 30, the XVII Intensive Seminar on Condensed Matter and Statistical Physics, SIMAFE 2022opened in Temuco in a hybrid format, with talks in English and Spanish.

The event will run for three days, organized by Universidad de la Frontera and CEDENNA. It opened with a presentation by researcher Umberto Celano, a distinguished engineer and physicist who in 2013 received the Roger A. Haken Best Paper Award at IEDM. He is the author or co-author of more than 50 articles in international journals and conference proceedings. His research interests include emerging nanoelectronics and physical characterization. His goal is to explore novel metrology methods and techniques to understand the physics of nanomaterials and nanoelectronic devices.

This meeting, already well established nationally, has gained increasing relevance internationally, with the participation of researchers from various countries, such as Spain, the Netherlands, the Dominican Republic, Bolivia, Argentina and Colombia.
