CEDENNA researcher nominated member of the Chilean Academy of Sciences

In an extraordinary session and by unanimous vote, the Chilean Academy of Sciences appointed the CEDENNA researcher, Dr. Juan Alejandro Valdivia Hepp, as a corresponding member of the scientific entity after a rigorous selection process in which his career, prestige, quality of research and contribution to the training of new scientists. Dr. Valdivia is a PhD in Physics from the University of Maryland, in the USA, a Simulations researcher at CEDENNA and a tenured professor in the Physics Department of the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Chile. His scientific contributions cover areas such as complex systems, astrophysics, space weather, nonlinear phenomena, and chaos theory, among others. “It is a great honor to be a member of the Academy. I am very attracted to the idea of ​​actively participating in this entity”, highlighted the scientist. His work and career have national and international recognition, which is expressed in his more than 160 scientific articles published in leading scientific journals, in many of which he has worked as editor. He has also been a reviewer of projects for important international and national entities such as NASA; National Science Foundation (USA); Natural Environment Research Council (USA); the National Commission for Scientific and Technological Research, Conicyt/Fondecyt (Chile) and the Chilean Nuclear Energy Commission (Chile).
