The researcher at the Center for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (CEDENNA) and Universidad Diego Portales (UDP) academic, Dr. Álvaro Espejo, is taking part in the Civil Society Council (COSOC) of the Ministry of Mining, a body that held a meeting with the Undersecretary of Mining, Álvaro González, where the Government Plan for the sector was presented, focused on investment, development and job creation.
“Taking part in the mining COSOC is an opportunity to link scientific capabilities with the concrete needs of the sector, both from UDP and from the work we carry out at CEDENNA,” said Dr. Espejo.
The researcher added that these kinds of forums allow a better understanding of industry demands and open spaces for collaboration between the public, academic and productive sectors.
Created under Law No. 20,500 on citizen participation, the COSOC seeks to strengthen the link between the State and civil society, incorporating a diverse and representative composition in the discussion of public policies for the sector.
It is an advisory body that brings together representatives of civil society to contribute to the preparation and monitoring of the ministry’s public policies.
