The Center for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology received a visit from Colegio Alta Cumbre of Curicó, an experience that allowed students to delve into the universe of nanoscience and nanotechnology.
The day began with an inspiring talk by CEDENNA associate researcher Dr. Fabián Araneda, who shared his vast knowledge of the advances and applications of nanoscience in different areas. The students were enthusiastic to discover how these cutting-edge technologies are revolutionizing sectors such as medicine, mining and industry, among others.
After the talk, Colegio Alta Cumbre students had the opportunity to explore some of our center’s laboratories. During the tour, they visited the Electron MicroscopyLaboratory, where they got a close look at how scientists use powerful microscopes to study nanoscale structures. In the Technology TransferLaboratory, they were shown how scientific innovations are taken from the laboratory to practical applications in the mining industry and the market.
The visit continued in the Packaging Laboratory, where students learned about the latest developments in nanocomposite materials for food packaging, highlighting the importance of nanosafety in these processes. In the Plant Biotechnology Laboratory, they were surprised to discover how nanotechnology can contribute to crop improvement and agricultural sustainability. Finally, in the Nanostructure Chemistry Laboratory, students were able to see how nanomaterials with unique properties are designed and synthesized.
Activities like this reinforce our commitment to science outreach and education, allowing new generations to learn first-hand about the impact of science and technology on our society.
