Supporting the professional development and constant updating of Science, Physics,
Chemistry and Biology teachers in nanoscience and nanotechnology topics has been a priority task
for CEDENNA’s members.

An example of this is its active participation in two workshops specially designed for
primary and secondary school teachers in our country: the Asynchronous Teacher Training
Workshop in Nanotechnology, developed together with researchers from different
universities, whose content is filmed to build a video library that remains
permanently available to registered teachers. And the In-Person PRONANO Workshop,
a Cedenna initiative consisting of a guided visit for teachers from across the country so that
they can meet the researchers, their laboratories and state-of-the-art instruments and
carry out with them experiments that can be replicated in the classroom.

In its 2024 edition, the Asynchronous Workshop is being held with the collaboration of
Drs. Alejandra Torres, CEDENNA researcher and USACH academic; Javier Rojas,
CEDENNA researcher and academic at the Universidad Católica del Maule; Pamela Sepúlveda,
academic at Universidad Mayor; and Carla Hernández, USACH academic. Also
taking part have been Rafael Freire (UCEN), Valeria del Campo (UTFSM) and Silvia Tecpan (Mexico), and
teachers such as Victoria Sáez, Nayareth Quirola and Valentina Márquez, among others. All of them
contribute their knowledge and record theoretical and practical video talks on the different
aspects of nanoscience and nanotechnology currently in the school curriculum,
videos that remain available to registered teachers, both for replication and for
classroom use.

At the same time, this course has become an important preliminary step for those
teachers who apply to take part in the In-Person PRONANO Workshops, during which
attendees visit CEDENNA to make direct contact with the researchers, see the
center’s laboratories and even put into practice everything learned in the videos and talks.
