- This innovation helps reduce the risk of workplace accidents and supports preventive maintenance of wear elements
In October 2022, CEDENNA (Center for the Development of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology located at Usach) began a new development that complements the technology of the monitoring system SIGET which alerts to the detachment of wear elements, reported Dr. Omar Daud, Projects Deputy Manager and Technology Transfer Researcher at the Center.
This new project seeks to have the same sensors measure the wear suffered by GETs, instead of the manual measurement carried out by miners in an open-pit mine. This innovation helps reduce the risk of workplace accidents and supports preventive maintenance of wear elements.
Another of the products developed by CEDENNA for the mining sector is a wireless system for monitoring bushing wear, called BWear, explained Dr. Álvaro Espejo, Director of Multidisciplinary Technology Projects.
