Until Friday, October 14 (5:00 p.m.), photographs will be received for the “CEDENNA Images” Contest, through which our center seeks to collect the best images related to nanoscience and nanotechnology, based on the work carried out in CEDENNA’s various research groups over the past year.
- Who can participate?
Undergraduate and graduate students, postdoctoral researchers and technology developers affiliated with the Center.
The photos selected in this contest will appear in CEDENNA’s outreach material: calendars, books, presentations, traveling exhibitions around the country, high-traffic venues and municipal cultural corporations, among others. In addition, all images will be added to CEDENNA’s historical record and may be included in outreach materials in the future, always crediting their authors.
The main objective is to give visibility to and bring the work of the Center’s scientists closer to the general public, contributing to science outreach to foster national scientific culture.
TWe invite you to download the Rules and the Application Form:
RULES
- Authors may submit images obtained through microscopy, simulations or other techniques, preferably showing nanoscale systems.
- An author may submit more than one image or work by completing the attached form.
- Images must be unpublished and the authors’ own work.
- Images may be artistically edited to highlight or contrast objects and figures. When submitting edited images, the original version must be attached.
- Exceptionally, this contest will accept images submitted to previous contests that did not win, which we recommend reworking with new colors or framing to improve them.
- Chilean and foreign authors may take part; foreign authors must have a valid work visa.
- Each image submitted must include a very brief didactic and preferably playful description, universally understandable (primary and high school students and the general public), no longer than 350 characters.
- Images must be sent to the email address indicated, in .JPG or .PNG format, ideally at 300 dpi resolution for high-resolution printing.
- Submitting an application automatically means the participant accepts these rules.
- The jury reserves the right to edit images and texts to offer a harmonious set in the final product.
IMAGE USE RIGHTS
Applying to the 2022 CEDENNA Internal Images Contest clearly means that participants (one or more authors) submitting images agree to assign to CEDENNA the rights to each image, for the uses the Center deems appropriate. In any case, whenever CEDENNA uses an image it will credit its authors.
PARTICIPATION AND SUBMISSION
Each participant must send a single email with all the images submitted and the form to [email protected] by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, October 14, 2022.
AWARDS
The jury will select the images it considers winners of the 2022 Contest, between 3 and 8, depending on the quality of the photos received. Notwithstanding the above, the Jury may declare the contest void if there are fewer than 5 participants, or if in the Jury’s opinion the quality of the images submitted is below those already archived in the historical record.
The results will be announced by email to each author and the winners will be published on the Center’s website www.cedenna.cl, in November 2022.
The jury’s decision will be final.
The author of a selected image will receive a prize of 100,000 pesos (gross amount) for each selected image.
The payment method requires authors of selected images to issue a fee receipt (boleta de honorarios) and have no criminal record at the date of the award. Foreign authors must have a Chilean ID card and a valid work visa.
