New executive director at CEDENNA

By the unanimity of its members, the board of directors of the Center for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, CEDENNA, elected Dr. Juan Escrig Murúa as the new executive director of the institution, replacing Dr. Dora Altbir Drullinsky, who directed the Center from its inception. creation and managed to position it as the main reference for nanoscience and nanotechnology in the country.

Dr. Escrig is currently dean of the Faculty of Science at the University of Santiago, where he obtained his PhD in Science with a major in Physics. In addition, he has been a member of the Global Young Academy, a young researcher of the Chilean Academy of Sciences, treasurer of the Chilean Physics Society and director of the Fondecyt Theoretical and Experimental Physics Study Group.

He currently leads the Nanomagnetism Laboratory, which focuses on three lines of research: nanoelectronic devices, antimicrobial nanostructures, and lithium batteries. His research work has allowed him to publish more than 130 WoS articles, which have received more than 2,900 citations. In addition, it has filed 5 patent applications and has trained 8 doctoral students.

He adds that "CEDENNA is recognized for its outstanding body of researchers who carry out excellent research that seeks to solve the challenges of society."
