Dr. José Marco Sanz, belonging to the Blas Cabrera Institute of Physical Chemistry (IFQ) in Madrid, Spain, was recently at CEDENNA developing a series of activities and meetings, in the context of an international collaboration for the project FONDECYT 1201249 (Electronic properties of coordination compounds based on functionalized mixed-valence polyoxometalates coordinated to lanthanide ions), invited by Dr. Diego Venegas Yazigi, who leads the center's Nanostructures Chemistry Line.

For almost a month, Dr. Marco Sanz immersed himself in scientific discussions with Dr. Venegas and held work meetings with Dr. Daniela Alburquenque, a member of the Nanomagnetism group led by the current executive director of CEDENNA, Dr. Juan Escrig. It is important to highlight that the Hispanic researcher has maintained a fruitful collaboration with various research groups in Chile over several years. This has resulted in the co-authorship of numerous scientific articles with the Chilean groups and, in particular, has forged a special scientific relationship with the CEDENNA teams.

Dr. Marco obtained his bachelor's degree in Physical Sciences from the University of Zaragoza in 1984 and in 1989, his doctorate from the Autonomous University of Madrid. In the two years following obtaining his doctorate, he carried out postdoctoral stays at the universities of Mainz (Germany) and Birmingham (United Kingdom).

"I am a spectroscopist who works in different areas where Physics, Chemistry and Materials Science merge. Over the years I have collaborated with a multitude of groups in Spain, Europe and Latin America," he comments in his profile on the IFQ website.
