The program Espacio 13C on Canal 13 highlighted CEDENNA’s participation in a scientific and technological research project, recently awarded in the FONDEFcompetition, which seeks to position Chile as a relevant player in the space industry.
This national initiative brings together universities, research centers, the Chilean Air Force and an international company, with the common goal of designing advanced coatings for nanosatellites.
The project is led by a multidisciplinary team, whose deputy director is Dr. Juan Escrig, Dean of the Faculty of Science of the Universidad de Santiago de Chile and CEDENNA researcher. In this regard, Dr. Escrig said:
“This award is a clear sign of the potential that national science has when it is organized around the country’s strategic challenges.”
For CEDENNA, this initiative is especially important, as it strengthens its leadership in the development of nanostructured materials with functional properties, aimed at meeting the concrete needs of highly technological sectors, such as the aerospace industry.
This project is a new step towards the future, driven by science and innovation developed in Chile.
