The challenge of nanotechnology in Chile to protect health and the environment

Under the title “The challenge of nanotechnology in Chile to protect health and the environment”, the Cooperativa Ciencia portal features an article referring to the sixth episode of the program “Nanos a la Obra”, which this outlet broadcasts every Thursday at 12:00 p.m. in partnership with CEDENNA.

“Nanotechnology offers great advances in various areas, but it also presents challenges regarding the safety of its application. CEDENNA experts explain the importance of nanosafety and its role in the responsible research and development of this technology in Chile,” the article states.

It adds that, at the international level, CEDENNA represents Chile before the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) in the area of nanosafety, participating in the preparation of guidelines, procedures and projects for the characterization and handling of nanomaterials.

«The goal is to achieve high participation in specific projects and hopefully to lead a project of our own», says Mauricio Escudey, director of CEDENNA’s Nanosafety Area
