The Center for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (CEDENNA) participated in the X National Meeting on Physics Didactics, held at the Metropolitan University of Educational Sciences (UMCE), an event that brought together teachers, academics and researchers committed to the teaching, dissemination and social projection of science.
On behalf of CEDENNA, researcher Roberto Lavín, director of the PAR Explora Sur Poniente and director of the Institute of Basic Sciences at Diego Portales University, participated in the discussion “Translating science: bridge between research, education and dissemination”, a space focused on reflecting on how to more effectively connect scientific knowledge with formal education and citizenship.
During his presentation, Dr. Lavín emphasized that research, dissemination, and teaching cannot be understood as separate dimensions, but rather as deeply interconnected processes. Based on his experience, he noted that one of the main challenges today is strengthening these links and generating languages, formats, and experiences that allow scientific knowledge to flow from laboratories to classrooms and society, and vice versa.
In that context, he highlighted the work that CEDENNA carries out in a sustained manner in training and dissemination, through initiatives such as the Nanoscience and Nanotechnology course for health professionals, the Nanosafety course, the talks aimed at educational establishments and the traveling exhibition "Images of the Nanoworld", among other actions aimed at bringing science closer to different audiences.
She also emphasized the Center's commitment to early and ongoing engagement with the education system. Over the past year, CEDENNA has hosted more than 20 educational institutions, including schools, high schools, and universities, promoting interest in science and nanotechnology and fostering scientific vocations from an early age.
CEDENNA's participation in this national meeting reaffirms its role as an active player in the articulation between scientific research, education and dissemination, contributing to a more integrated, accessible scientific culture aligned with the challenges of the country.
