Promoting the incorporation, participation and leadership of women in the scientific field is the main objective of the CEDENNA Gender Commission, which was established this week.

Work will be done on a diagnosis based on indicators, strategies will be proposed that encourage the incorporation of women, short and long-term goals will be defined, and norms will be established to facilitate the achievement of the goals.

This new commission, which is added to the Transfer, Links with the Environment and Alumni commission (soon to be established), is made up of Dr. Alejandra Torres, Dr. Valentina Carrasco, Dr. Patricia Díaz, Dr. Marlen Gutiérrez and Dr. Juan Escrig.

The coordination is in charge of Verónica Pérez, manager of the center, who said that the first task of the commission was to carry out a survey of CEDENNA's undergraduate thesis students to find out the career to which they belonged, why they followed or not a postgraduate and where they are today, among other topics. In addition, USACH organizations dedicated to gender issues will be contacted.
