Nanoscience and nanotechnology have been recognized as priority areas in many countries, contributing to medicine, caring for the environment, and recently to the fight against covid through new vaccines such as those from Pfizer and Moderna laboratories.

The United States, Japan, Germany, France and the United Kingdom are currently leading this fourth industrial revolution, from which Chile cannot be left out.

For this reason, Dr. Flavio Salazar, Minister of Science, Technology, Knowledge and Innovation, visited the Center for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology of Chile, CEDENNA, the country's main research center in the area, hand in hand with the National Science Award, Dr. Dora Altbir, director of the same; where they addressed what the Strategic Program is about to provide a new development model.

Through a new strategic science-industry platform, called OPEN LAB, Cedenna seeks to create a node of associated companies to promote research and economic development and thus find innovative responses to the challenges of each sector.
