“Nanotechnology made in Chile” is the name of the talk given by the executive director of the Center for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, Dr. Juan Escrig Murúa, to students and academics from the University of Tarapacá (Arica), within the framework of his visit to the campus for the inauguration of the exhibition “Images of the Nanoworld” carried out by our research center and which the northern university house will host until October 15.

Before an audience interested in delving deeper into nanoscience and nanotechnology, Dr. Escrig highlighted the interdisciplinary nature of these scientific branches, as they cover physics, chemistry, materials science, microelectronics, biochemistry and biotechnology, among others. He highlighted how nanoscale materials acquire unique properties and how nanotechnology allows for the design of tailored materials and products, such as advanced electronic components, smart sensors, innovative medicines and medical treatments, etc.

The director of CEDENNA, also dean of the USACH Faculty of Science, stressed that nanotechnology is revolutionizing research and technological development, offering a deeper understanding of matter and its interactions, presenting creative solutions to problems in areas such as health, energy, environment and technology.

In his final message, Dr. Escrig stated that "from Latin America, we have the opportunity to contribute to a future full of possibilities. It is up to us to take advantage of the opportunities that arise."
