The Center for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (CEDENNA) announces the opening of registrations for the PRONANO 2024 program, aimed at secondary education teachers in scientific areas. The event will take place on Thursday, March 14, 2024, from 8:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., in the center building, located at Av. Libertador Bernardo O'Higgins 3363, Estación Central (Metropolitan Region).
ProNano - in its IX Version - emerges as an instance of training in nanoscience and nanotechnology for secondary school teachers, with the purpose of supporting them, providing them with knowledge and tools that allow them to effectively address their students, since these contents were incorporated in the Science Programs for 3rd and 4th grade and require greater depth.
“This workshop allows us to fulfill our purpose as a scientific center, which is to do science and technology, training scientists in these areas, contributing to the training of teachers and students and disseminating information to contribute to the development of the country. For this, it is essential that new generations understand that these advances affect different areas such as medicine, food, climate change and mining," said the National Prize for Exact Sciences Dora Altbir, executive director of the CEDENNA Foundation and who will be participating. actively on this day.
The program will include theoretical and practical workshops led by the center's scientists. Teachers will be able to experiment and even create their own nanoparticles on their tour (during the afternoon) through the different laboratories. In addition, they will be given ideas, advice, experiences and exercises so that they can apply the knowledge received in their classrooms.

The event is aimed at third and fourth year teachers who teach subjects such as biology, physics and chemistry. Participation in the program is free of charge, but regional teachers must cover their travel and accommodation expenses.
