The agreement aims to strengthen teacher training and bring nanotechnology into high school classrooms.
The Center for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology Foundation (CEDENNA) and the Chilean Society for Physics Education (SOCHEF) have signed a memorandum of understanding, marking the beginning of a strategic collaboration to promote the teaching of nanoscience and nanotechnology in Chile’s school system.
This agreement formalizes an ongoing collaboration that will include various activities, such as participation in scientific update workshops for physics teachers, in response to new curriculum challenges that incorporate nanoscience content at the high school level.
The document was signed by Dr. Dora Altbir on behalf of CEDENNA, Dr. Juliano Casagrande on behalf of the CEDENNA Center Program, and Professor Pamela Mondaca, president of SOCHEF. The signing ceremony was also attended by Nicolás Ferrada, member of SOCHEF’s board of directors.
The alliance includes concrete actions in four main areas:
-
Teacher training: organization of talks, courses, and workshops aimed at physics and science teachers.
-
Scientific outreach: guided visits to laboratories, school science fairs, traveling exhibitions, and science olympiads.
-
Educational resources: joint development of teaching materials on nanoscience and nanotechnology.
-
Shared visibility: coordinated promotion of the activities carried out under this agreement.
This alliance reflects CEDENNA’s commitment to knowledge transfer and to strengthening science education in Chile through active collaboration with the teaching community.
The memorandum does not establish financial obligations but allows for voluntary contributions to specific projects that support these shared goals.
