Today we highlight what was the third chapter of "Nanos a la Obra" published by Cooperativa Ciencia!

In the third episode of the chapter "Nanos at Work", the emerging field of Nanomedicine was delved into with two prominent CEDENNA researchers. Dr. Cristián Vilos, director of the Nanomedicine Center at the University of Talca, and Dr. Patricia Díaz, head of the CEDENNA nanobiomedicine laboratory, offered us a close look at how nanotechnology is transforming modern medicine.

"Nanomedicine is defined as an emerging field that combines medicine, biology and nanotechnology to develop advanced diagnostic and treatment strategies," explains Dr. Vilos. This discipline promises to revolutionize the way we approach diseases, offering innovative and effective solutions. For her part, Dr. Díaz highlights that, "by 2023, it was estimated that there would be at least 90 nanodrugs, that is, medications that use nanoparticle systems to treat various diseases, with cancer being one of the main objectives. Nanomedicine is much closer than we believe in our daily lives. This chapter is an unmissable opportunity to learn more about how nanomedicine is marking a before and after in global health.
