The Center for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology received a visit from the Alta Cumbre School of Curicó, an experience that allowed students to delve into the universe of nanoscience and nanotechnology.
This day began with an inspiring talk given by the researcher associated with the CEDENNA Center Dr. Fabián Araneda, who shared his vast knowledge about the advances and applications of nanoscience in different areas. The students were enthusiastic to discover how these cutting-edge technologies are revolutionizing sectors such as medicine, mining, industry, among others.
After the talk, the students of Colegio Alta Cumbre had the opportunity to explore some of the laboratories of our center. During the tour, they were able to visit the Electron Microscopy Laboratory, where they observed up close how scientists use powerful microscopes to study nanoscale structures. In the Transfer Laboratory, they were shown how scientific innovations are taken from the laboratory to practical applications in the mining industry and the market.
The visit continued in the Packaging Laboratory, where students learned about the latest developments in nanocomposite materials for food packaging, highlighting the importance of nanosafety in these processes. At the Plant Biotechnology Laboratory, they were surprised to discover how nanotechnology can contribute to crop improvement and agricultural sustainability. Finally, in the Nanostructures Chemistry Laboratory, students were able to observe how nanomaterials with unique properties are designed and synthesized.
These types of activities reinforce our commitment to scientific dissemination and education, allowing new generations to learn first-hand about the impact of science and technology on our society.
