Today we want to highlight the note published by Cooperativa Ciencia where the fifth chapter of "Nanos a la Obra" is highlighted and whose main topic was the role of nanotechnology in food packaging and food safety.
On this occasion, the Alternate Director of CEDENNA and expert in nanotechnology applied to food packaging, Dr. María José Galotto, and the specialist in the creation of nanotechnological sensors to detect pathogens and harmful chemicals in fruits and vegetables and Associate Researcher at CEDENNA, Juan Luis Palma addressed this topic, explaining in detail how nanotechnology contributes to food safety.
"Few people imagine that nanotechnology plays a fundamental role in the area of containers and packaging and, specifically, in the area of food packaging. Nanotechnology for us is a tool that has allowed us to work in different fields, which allows us allows the incorporation of nanocomposites with antimicrobial or antioxidant activity into packaging, which makes packaged foods last longer," explained María José Galotto.
