The newspaper Las Últimas Noticias recently published an article about an important achievement for Chilean science: the Center for Movement Disorders (CETRAM), directed by Dr. Pedro Chana, a neurologist and researcher at CEDENNA, was selected by the Michael J. Fox Foundation to receive the Edmond J. Safra Fellowship.
This recognition will allow for the training of a new specialist in movement disorders and strengthen clinical research on Parkinson's disease. Among more than 70 applications worldwide, only eight centers were selected, one of which is located in Lo Espejo, Chile. CETRAM thus becomes the only center in Latin America to be part of this network of excellence, alongside institutions in cities such as Zurich and Vancouver.
At CEDENNA, Dr. Chana leads research in neuroscience and neurodegenerative diseases, providing a perspective from nanoscience and applied biomedicine. This international recognition is a concrete example of the impact generated by the collaborative work between basic science, public health, and technology transfer.
At CEDENNA, we proudly celebrate this milestone, which highlights not only CETRAM and its team, but also the value of national research with global impact.
