- Memorable talk and conversation with this outstanding researcher and academic Usach.
The Auditorium of the Rector Eduardo Morales Santos Research Centers Building (REMS) of the University of Santiago de Chile was the scene of a talk by Dr. José Zagal, recently awarded the 2024 National Prize for Natural Sciences, within the framework of the CEDENNA Seminar Series.
Dr. Zagal, with more than 200 scientific publications and author of four books, is a world leader in the field of electrochemistry and energy conversion. His prestigious career of more than 50 years began in 1973 as a professor at Usach, where he has left an indelible mark on the training of new generations of scientists.
During the event, which brought together students and researchers, Dr. Zagal shared his vast experience and knowledge in electrochemistry. At the end of his presentation, the attendees had the opportunity to interact directly with the academic in a question and answer session, fostering an enriching dialogue between the participants..
This seminar is part of CEDENNA's ongoing commitment to the dissemination and promotion of scientific knowledge, connecting the university community with outstanding references in the area.
At the close of the day, the director of CEDENNA, Dr. Juan Escrig Murúa, presented a recognition to Dr. Zagal, which included the book "El Asombroso Nanomundo", a work that combines images of nanoparticles captured by researchers and students of the center through electron microscopy and artistically intervened to link science and art.
For his part, Dr. Zagal valued the event and highlighted the importance of bringing science closer to the general public through initiatives like this.
